Samsung Mobile rapidly launches new cell phones. This year, the Korean vendor is targeting top second in the cell phone market.
According to Hioe An Kin, Head of Samsung Electronics Indonesia Mobile Business Department, based on GFK data, Nokia still leads the way with 45-55 percent of market share, given the market size of 1.5 million per month. Sony Ericsson follows in the second place while Samsung Electronics takes third position.
"We are expecting that we can take over Sony Ericsson's position by the end of the year," said An Kin on Thursday, August 6.
To meet the objective, Samsung announced that it will launch 15 new cell phone models in Indonesia until the end of 2009.
Globally, Samsung reported that its market share in Q2 of 2009 reached 18.7 percent, just below Nokia with 40 percent of market share. The cell phone sales also rose 14 percent compared to the previous quarter to 52.3 million units.
