Review Transformers the game

Review game Portal

So here we go to the review again, kali ini game pertama akan diberikan kepada game buatan Sierra, Portal. Portal dan sebangsanya, Half Life 2 sama-sama menjunjung image sierra sebgai pembuat game FPS.

Seperti Vodafone, RedBull, Fila, Dell, AMD, Castrol, Michelin, Puma, JVC, Rolex, Shell, Dunlop, Ebay Motors, Sparco, Good Year, NGK, dll.

Gameplay

Overall very good

Head-On: Audition Ayodance Vs. Idol Street

CSI NY: The Game Review

Sometimes you can't expect miracles. CSI is an extremely popular television series. It engages the viewer, taking them along for the ride but also allowing them to exercise their analytical crime-solving skills in the process. At the very least, it's fascinating to passively watch the professionals go about their duties. Ultimately, you will always learn something. One would think a crime-solving show such as CSI would make a great, interactive video game. Here's an opportunity for viewers to demonstrate what they've learned from watching the show. It sounds like a great idea, but, unfortunately, the technology required to make this game realistic is still in its infancy.

Like all of the CSI games, CSI New York: The Game is a linear simulation requiring you to follow procedures in a specified order, using a specified format, with specified tools. There is no room for improvisation or personal expression. You will never get a chance to show off your skills, since there's only one way to solve each case. The developers could have tried a little harder to create the illusion of freedom of choice, but ultimately we have to accept the fact that this is little more than a point-and-click adventure game exploiting the CSI license. Knowing this will significantly reduce our disappointment, as we realize that, like the TV series, we are merely along for the ride.

CSI New York: The Game follows the basic point-and-click formula. You'll explore the environment, collect items, enter into conversations with non-playable characters, and solve puzzles. Nothing wrong with that concept, but in the case of CSI New York, all of these elements become tedious after the second case. There are four major cases, with a fifth promised to be available for download in the New Year. Each case incorporates the same elements, and even though the storyline is different, the gameplay is essentially the same. Everything is done in much the same order. Instead of feeling like you're solving a crime, you feel more like the errand boy, following orders and procedures that are written in stone.

You don't have to know anything about the show to play this game. In fact, the less you know, the less disappointed you're likely to be. The two main characters, Mac and Stella, are featured throughout the game. Their likenesses are good, not uncanny, but you'll definitely have no trouble recognizing them or other characters from the show. That goes for locations as well. New York is a highly concentrated, concrete metropolis. While the game will not win any awards for its slightly cartoonish 2D graphics, it gets the job done. What passes for style is the apparent graphic novel-look, which is just a marketing term designed as an excuse for cheap, static drawings. Character interaction involves 2D renderings and conversation trees. The actors from the series provide the dialogue but it doesn't have the same impact or immediacy as the show.

At the beginning of each episode you will arrive at a crime scene. It will, of course, contain the body, and it will also be a source of clues. The stories are penned by actual writers of the series and they will keep you guessing. It's not ablatantly obvious whodunit. In one episode, there's an apparent suicide victim that looks as though he jumped from a skyscraper. A food critic is found dead, locked in a freezer at a restaurant. There are numerous suspects many with motives and others with seemingly airtight alibis. This is where you come in. You will search the scene for clues, taking them back to the lab for analysis. Witnesses and suspects need to be questioned. Eventually, you will arrive at your prime suspect(s) and step up the interrogation process, eventually uncovering the murderer.

Searching for clues is a matter of pointing and clicking. The scene is littered with clues such as fingerprints and items with DNA on it. Too keep you from trying to click on everything, the developers have devised a penalty that will cause the cursor to disappear for a few seconds if you over-click. This does tend to make you stop and think for a moment. Many of the items are red herrings, so it's not advisable to click on everything.

Once you have collected your evidence, it's time to take it to the lab. Here you will play a series of mini-games as you match fingerprints, extract DNA, piece together broken or scattered items including faces, trace blood outlines, and try to crack codes to gain information from computers and other locked sources. Most of these puzzles are very easy, but sometimes it's not always clear what you are supposed to do and in what order. There are hints that you can use, but they virtually solve the puzzle for you. You are allowed to skip two puzzles in each episode. These mini-game puzzles relate to the actual clue processing in only the remotest of ways. This sense of detachment is only heightened by these make-work puzzles.

Interrogating subjects is as easy as clicking on the dialogue on the conversation tree. There's no real satisfaction here, as you'll eventually go through all of the conversations anyway. Eventually you will interrogate the prime suspect where, during the questioning, he or she will break down and fully admit their guilt. End of episode, move on to the next one using the same techniques and procedures. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I've had CSI New York: The Game on the examining table for a few hours now, and I have concluded that its demise was self-inflicted. Pull the sheet over it and give it a proper burial.

MySims Review

Sims for Kids

When I tried MySims at E3, I thought: Oh, no! Another life-sucking game to keep me on my chair for hours on end! As if I didn't have enough with my job, playing adventure or puzzle games in addition to Animal Crossing: City Folk, I feared I would find myself playing this game all the time. Luckily, or sadly, depending on how you look at it, that wasn't the case. MySims is a charming game full of things to do, but it's a little too simple for those with greater plans in mind. It's quite obvious the game is tailored for the younger ones, though some audiences may overlap, as there's enough charm to hold one's attention for at least a while.

The PC version is more than a port of the Wii's MySims, which came out in September of last year, along with the DS version. This version has been expanded with new objects, more characters, costumes, and buildings. Also, it comes with online support, which allows players to exchange friend codes in order to play together in shared areas and chat via keyboard or voice chat. All these new features make the game more interesting and of greater value, although it still doesn't warrant automatic involvement and the subsequent (and sometimes inevitable) addiction.

MySims is a cute life simulator where players help to rebuild a town that was once perfect. Citizens moved out of town because the town's architect left and things went bad, and now it's up to you to bring back the charm that once reigned in this land. You'll get to create your own character, customizing it with cute outfits, different faces, hair styles, etc. It's not a very deep character creator, but it does the trick.

Once you move into your new town, you'll create a home, and then your very own workshop. Then, you'll start socializing with other townsfolk, thus learning the ins and outs of your new life. By using certain objects and exploiting the resources available in your town, you'll start obtaining and collecting essences, which come in handy when building furniture or revitalizing certain things. This is one of the most exciting aspects of the game, as it involves collecting and later customizing things. Shaking an apple tree will grant you a very tasty essence, and catching a clown fish will translate into a funny clown motif.

There are only six different essence categories (fun, geeky, tasty, cute, spooky, and studious), but you'll find tons of different essences throughout the game that fit within these categories. Also, depending upon your behavior with the town's characters, you'll earn emotion-based essences. Essences can be placed in your home or other neighbors' properties, always trying to suit their taste. You can use the essences as paint or wallpapers, turning objects and buildings into unique items. Also, it's important to keep the town healthy by planting new trees, flowers, etc. as well as watering them so they don't go bad.

As you help improve the town, you'll notice its inhabitants will feel more comfortable and new ones will start moving in. You'll see them interacting with each other in funny ways, which is a charming facet of the game. By rebuilding different town areas, helping to reopen businesses, and upgrading the citizen's lifestyles with new items you'll build in your workshop, your town will, once again, return to glory and earn you the five stars.

As the town's architect and potential savior of the village, you'll spend a lot of time in the workshop. Here you'll create furniture and other items, starting with blueprints provided by other citizens, or building your own creations from scratch. This aspect promotes creativity, and it's actually entertaining in small doses. The problem is most of the game is based on building / customizing tasks, and after a while, it gets boring. The town's citizens will ask you to create things for them, turning the game into a go-and-get-me kind of game. Not only do you have to create the items for them, but you also have to go first and collect the required essences to apply to the items they ordered. After a while, this becomes too mundane. The keyboard controls on MySims for PC are simple enough and players will get the hang of them after a while. Moving the characters around is a breeze, as you can use the arrow keys, the WASD keys, or simply point and click with the mouse to make characters move. Interacting with other characters and doing things like fishing or shaking trees is also extremely easy, and moving the camera is achieved with no trouble with the Q and E keys. However, things get more difficult when it's time to build furniture, apply patterns, move objects, etc. Handling objects seems more intuitive on the Wii and DS, whereas on the PC version players will have to get accustomed to using the WASD keys. It may be a good way to initiate children in the world of PC gaming, but using the keyboard is certainly more complex than one could wish for, considering MySims is tailored mostly for kids.

When building an object, pieces are placed with the mouse but selected and rotated with the WASD keys, which can get a bit confusing at first. Players have to be careful when selecting pieces and placing them over the blueprint: sometimes the "recipe" will require applying a certain amount of essences to the object, and if you don't use enough pieces where you can apply the essence, you'll have to end up getting rid of the portions you had already used, and thus losing the essences already applied to them. Also, removing pieces from below will delete the ones placed above, which is a bit frustrating. An undo button could have been a great solution, but there's no such luck. One eventually gets used to these issues, but the controls are just not user-friendly enough, especially for the youngest.

Unlike the Wii and DS version of MySims, the PC adaptation offers online support. Through a familiar system of friend codes (found in most Nintendo games), players can visit each others' shared areas and check out what they made, how they decorated, etc. Objects and buildings can even be "packaged" and sent to other players, allowing them to use your very own creations in their towns. All these online capabilities are great, except for the fact that you may not know many people who own the game. Only being able to visit the shared game areas is also a downside, as most players will focus on creating things for their lovely town and not the "outskirts." Activities like playing tag will make it fun for some players though. Who wouldn't be up for some friendly competition?

The soundtrack in MySims is very typical of games like The Sims, and many of the sound effects will be extremely familiar for The Sims or Spore players as well. There's not much to complain about when it comes to the sound experience in general, though the music gets repetitive if you play MySims for too long. However, since the intended audience is kids and early teens, they may not even notice. After all, sim games are always repetitive in almost every aspect, but they're also very absorbing, which is what keeps players coming back for more.

The graphics are entirely bubbly and full of color, perfect for kids and adults drawn by the cutesy factor. If you have a good enough computer, you'll notice everything is very smooth and consistent, and character animations make the game feel more "alive." The high resolutions achieved by the computer blow away the visuals offered on the Wii version. However, one thing I could mention is the general lack of detail in the environments. Everything, from trees to common fruits, buildings, etc. seems a bit too familiar after a while, not leaving much left to discover. If the town was larger, there could be much more to do and see.

If you own a Wii, Animal Crossing (though similar) may be a better option, as it's more in-depth and entertaining, less focused on the "LEGO" factor and more on collecting things, learning about fish, insects, and dinosaurs, as well as working and managing your "finances." The Sims franchise, available for PC and other last-gen game consoles is also a great option, as it's the most realistic and addictive life sim to date. MySims offers a nice sim experience for the younger ones though, as well as those looking into fun and lighthearted games that are easy to play and understand, but it's definitely on the "light" side. There's a whole lot of furniture creating here, but socializing, decorating, and life simulation in general is not as in-depth and entertaining as it is in the regular The Sims franchise. This game grows old after a while, even though its charm may hold your attention for some time.

Sell your cars without actually selling them

Your car has a trade-in value at the "Manage Vehicles" screen under the stat bars. You can receive that amount without losing your car. First, make sure you have enough money to buy the same car from the Showroom. For example, assume you have a 1979 Trans Am worth $36,000. Buy another one for $16,000. When you sell the car you just bought (the unmodified, stock, car), you will receive $36,000 and not lose your modified one (a $20,000 gain). There is a catch, however; your car will lose its value and only be worth approximately $12,000. However, for every race you finish and receive prize money, the value starts going back up. You can repeat the trick after awhile. This works with every car.
Put stock vinyls on other cars

Use the following trick to put the Trans Am Hood Bird on another car or the old school Challenger's decals on the new one. Go to the Vinyl shop, and save that car's Vinyl Package. There are three slots to save in. Then, apply it to the other car via the "Vinyl Packages" option (they will be at the bottom).

Need For Speed: Underground Rivals

Boss cars

Some race events are listed as "Boss Race" in the event description. Win that event under the gold difficulty setting to be awarded that Boss's car (1969 Dodge Charger, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Nissan Skyline R34 GTR). When you win a Boss car, it will appear in the Pocket Garage, and you can race it in any game event.
Boss car warning

When considering buying a car, do not buy any of the cars that are used as Boss cars. If you buy one, you will end up having two of the same car. Your garage can only hold 20 cars, and there are 24 cars total. The four Boss cars have their own separate garage and do not take up any of the twenty slots. You cannot get 100% completion if you buy any of the cars used as Boss cars.
Bonus parts

Successfully complete the last race of a set with a gold medal to unlock bonus parts.
Avoid losing control

Before hitting a wall, press R1 to help avoid losing control.
Helpful momentum

In the Nitrous Run Race, if your time is about two to four seconds from expiring, aim the car at the gate and use all the nitrous remaining. Even if the timer runs out, your car will keep going enough without the gas and may pass the gate. If so, the timer will start again and your nitrous tank will be refilled, allowing you to continue with the race.
Getting driver points

You can earn all the upgrade points in an event by winning it on the Bronze and Silver difficulty settings. However, to get all of the driver points you must win all of the races on the Gold difficulty setting. Check the "Driver Status" screen in "My Underground" to see your current driver points and driver rank. Maxing out your driver rank will unlock secret bonuses.
Fast Mazda RX-7

After getting the RX-7, put the following upgrade parts on the car to obtain maximum speed: Aeromax spoiler, Beast Carbon Fiber hood, Gills roof scoop, and Max 1 body kit. Also, make sure you have all of the performance upgrades unlocked and ready to install. You can get over 210 mph with this setup and win a race by 42 seconds.
Car selection

If you are having trouble figuring out which cars to use for what event, cars with high top speeds/acceleration are good for drag races; cars with good controls/handling are best for drifting; and cars with a balance of the three are good for normal racing.
Nitrous runs

On the nitrous run levels, let off the gas through tight turns. Otherwise, you will hit the wall and flip your car.
Ride invisible wall

While driving, hit a turn too hard to fly up and over the railing. There is an invisible wall that you can ride. If you ride it correctly, you can land back on your wheels.
Drive through doors

On the Bayside Run course, there are doors that you can go through without them moving. Drive over 175 mph and have NOS on when you are about to hit the doors. You will disappear and go through it to the other side without moving the wall. When you enter the sidewalk sale area, the right front door does not seem to work but this glitch can be done with all others.
Music

To listen to the music that you have encountered, go to the main menu and select "EA games Pocket Trax". Here are the song that are in movie mode:
Soulwax: "Any Minute Now"
The DONOTS: "We got the noise"
